It was mainstream America's first real prime time glimpse into the beautiful music of Mariachi; and it was heard through the voice of the talented Sebastien De La Cruz. During the summer of 2012, the international talent show known as "America's Got Talent" gave national exposure to Texas' very own "Golden Cowboy," Sebastien De La Cruz. NBC producers along with millions of viewers fell in love with the charismatic and respectful persona of Sebastien.

 

TV personalities and judges, Howard Stern, Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel all agreed that Sebastien is "wise beyond his years." Sebastien, along with Mariachi Charros de Oro, catapulted mariachi music into the national spotlight, performing five times (including three live shows) with over 12 million viewers each performance. America got to hear beautiful renditions of "Besame Mucho," "Granada" and even a mariachi arrangement of "New York, New York."

 

Before Sebastien and his Charros de Oro became a household name, he made his mark on his hometown of San Antonio. At the age of five he told his parents he wanted to sing mariachi music, and with much hard work and determination, he began taking vocal lessons under the instruction of Professor Michelle Alma Quintero from Texas State University’s Latin Music Studies Program. He began learning some traditional mariachi songs and began singing at local community events with the San Antonio Parks and Recreation. Sebastien has been showcased at the Mariachi Spectacular de Albuquerque, Tucson International Mariachi Conference, La Cruces Mariachi Conference and performed alongside Charro Jerry Diaz in Fort Worth, Texas, Denver, Colorado and Waco, Texas.

 

At a very young age, Sebastien has proven himself to be among the best young mariachi vocalist in the U.S. Sebastien has opened for the internationally acclaimed Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán and has also performed with Mariachi Sol de Mexico as the opening act for Pepe Aguilar in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Casino Resort. Sebastien has also shared the stage with Paquita del Barrio, Alejandro Fernandez, Nydia Rojas, Ramon Ayala, Lorenzo Negrete, and Gloria Estefan. Sebastien has also had the privileged of performing with the San Antonio Symphony at both the Majestic Theatre and the Tobin Center in San Antonio, Texas for the annual Fiesta Pops concert.

 

During the NBA Finals in 2013 Sebastien performed the National Anthem during two national televised NBA finals games. Sebastien gained worldwide exposure for wearing a traditional Mariachi traje while singing the National Anthem. Even the President of the United States, Mr. Barack Obama tweeted his support to Sebastien.

 

On July 7, 2013 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, Sebastien lead and broke the Guinness World Record for the most Mariachi’s playing at one time.

 

September 27, 2013 performed the National Anthem at the ALMA Awards at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

 

Sebastien has been honored and awarded the 2013 Rising Start Award and the 2014 Dynamic Youth Award. In March 2015, Sebastien made his debut at the Chicago Lyric Opera in El Pasado Nunca se Termina, directed by Leonard Foglia. Sebastien has also worked with the San Diego Opera and the Houston Grand Opera.

 

May 2015 Sebastien released his second CD entitled “Tu y Yo”

 

May 8, 2015 Ms. Eva Longoria featured Sebastien on a documentary called “Go Sebastien Go!” on ESPNs 30 for 30.

 

July 22,2015, Sebastien appeared as a cohost on San Antonio Live on ABCs KSAT 12.

 

The San Antonio Spurs and AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas honored Sebastien with a mural of him.

 

October 15, 2015, Former Secretary of State Mrs. Hillary Clinton requested for Sebastien to perform the National Anthem at her campaign rally for President.

 

October 16, 2015 Sebastien serenated the Secretary of the interior Sally Gewell.

 

November 18, 2015, Sebastien met and performed for Vice President Joe Biden at a Private Dinner.

 

March 9, 2016, Sebastien performed the National Anthem in Miami FL for the Democratic debate.

 

July 27, 2016, Sebastien performed the National Anthem in Philadelphia for the Democratic National Convention.


In June 2015, Sebastien appeared as a special guest on ABC’s The Bachelorette. Sebastien serenated the Bachelorette and helped judge the contestants on their own mariachi serenade to the bachelorette.

 

Sebastien has starred in the following short films “Squeeze box”, “Green Ghost.” His latest short film “Born of a Killer,” in which he co-starred with actors Ricardo Chavarria and Jesse Borrego.

 

February 2016, Sebastien will make his television acting debut on NBC’s Telenovela with Ms. Eva Longoria.

 

Sebastien has been featured in newspaper articles published nationwide and has appeared on numerous television news and talk programs in the U.S. Sebastien is a freshman at Karen Wagner High School, where he is an A&B student and a class leader.

 

On December 2, 2016 Sebastien released his 2nd single (Pobre Cancionero) featuring Paula Deanda. On January 6, 2017 Sebastien will be releasing his 3rd album (Nuestro Amor). It will be featuring 7 original and 7 cover songs. The CD was recorded and produced at Hollywood Studios in San Antonio Tx.
